Philippine beauty and designers graced Miss USA 2015 stage!

Baton Rouge, LA – After strutting across the Miss USA rostrum, 26 year-old Boston University grad Miss Oklahoma USA Olivia Jordan, stood out and was crowned as Miss USA on July 12th, 2015.

Jordan competed against 50 state titleholders, including 21 year-old Miss USA semi finalist, Maureen Montagne. Born of Filipino mother and French father, Montagne’s dazzling beauty is not new to pageantry, she was Mutya ng Pilipinas 2013 1st Runner Up before she was crowned Miss Arizona USA 2015.  Cheers Maureen! – shout out to you my friend for placing top 15 in the Miss USA competition.  We are very proud of you girl!

While Maureen is the Philippine’s only bet in the 64th Miss USA pageant, she is not the only Filipino name to grace the Baton Rouge River Center stage. Many may have missed the gorgeous gowns worn by 2 Miss USA finalists, designed by Ruway 4 Life Fil-Am star and couturier Joey Galon and Filipino Avant Garde Knight Rocky Gathercole.

  • Third runner-up, Miss Nevada USA Brittany McGowan, was nothing less than regal in a stunning Swarovski-crusted silver long sleeve evening gown by Joey Galon Atelier. Exuding a luxurious and elegant look, I see a late Victorian / Edwardian era influence in this deep V figure revealing tight bodice complimented by a detachable full sweeping train carried out in a soft platinum fabric with short over the waistband lining to emphasize her curves. Very well executed especially with the gown’s unexpected versatility!  In addition to running Joey Galon Atelier as CEO and Designer, Galon has been busy as an Associate Producer preparing for the Binibining Pilipinas USA competition and coronation event to be held on August 15th, 2015 at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, California.

  • Fourth runner-up, Miss Maryland USA Mame Adjei on the other hand, donned a very contemporary sheer eveningwear artfully lavished with sequenced lace and black crystals, designed by no other than Rocky Gathercole. His vogue, feisty and ardent design never disappoints and it takes a certain personage to wear a Gathercole signature piece.  A bit overshadowed by Gathercole’s dernier cri creation, I would have styled Adjei’s hair in an up do, away from the voluminous structural art neckline to draw more focus on her face.   With red carpet, editorial shoots and runway demands, Rocky Gathercole is constantly jet setting between Asia, Middle East and the Americas. Catch his Phoenix Fashion Week Finale appearance on October 3rd, 2015. Tickets available here: http://bit.ly/1JJnvWe
